Sprite bulb

From Dragon Quest Wiki

The Sprite bulb is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI.

It is a floating, blue plant-based slime. It aids its allies in battle by curing wounds much like the Healslime, only it does so by spreading a peculiar pollen instead of with magic. The friendly foliage can't easily control how the pollen spreads, however, and will accidentally heal adventurers as well.

Etymology[edit]

  • Sprite is a Middle English term for a small elfin being that is very elusive, and is derived from the Latin word spiritus.
  • Araune is a mispronunciation of Alraune, which is the German name for the mythical mandrake plant.
