Nintendo is a Japanese corporation, and is the creator of the main platforms for the Dragon Quest series up to and including Dragon Quest VI. With Dragon Quest VII, Sony PlayStation became the main platform. However, Dragon Quest games continue to be released for Nintendo platforms, with Dragon Quest IX being on the Nintendo DS, Dragon Quest X being on the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Dragon Quest XI having versions on both the 3DS and the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo of America, a subsidiary of Nintendo, was the publisher of the NES Version of the first game in North America, Dragon Quest, as well as the publisher of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition outside Japan.
