The Dark slimes in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King are simply black-and-white palette swaps of normal slimes. They are not the same as the Dark Slimes in the Monsters series.
They appear as special DLC monsters in the Slime Jamboree tablet in the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VII.
