Flython

Revision as of 10:21, 23 February 2020 by Antiyonder (talk | contribs)

The Flython is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Debuting in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation, they gained proper dragon status in Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies.

Characteristics

The Flython and their cousins are hybrids of three genus of real world snakes; they combine the size of Pythonidae, the head shape and fangs of Viperidae, and the hoods of Elapidae (cobras). The latter trait is a humorous exaggeration, however; where as a cobra uses its hood for intimidation and defence, the Flython uses them to set sail on air currents.

Description Snakes with sail-like gills packed with potent poison, which they puff out in a venomous vapor. They hate whistlers.
Snake-spotters say that they spread their great gills and glide across the skies and over the seas on moonlit nights.
