The Coffer of death is a ghastly purple pallet-swap of the Mimic, having been added to the series in the Nintendo 3DS port of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

Dragon Quest Walk[edit]
The Coffer of death was added to the game on February 26th, 2021 as an event monster.
Etymology[edit]
- A coffer is a synonym for chest, and was used for its similarity to the words _coffin_ and _cough_.
- The Japanese name is a bilingual pun, as _gift_ is the German word for poison as well as the English word for present.
