The heavy hatchet is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series. This powerful weapon was originally part of the scythe category of weapons when it first appeared, but it has since become classified as an axe.

The heavy hatchet has an attack bonus of +110. It can be bought at Tryan Gully for 29,000 gold and sold for 15,000 gold. It is Yangus's strongest scythe.
