The Hirsute hexer is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. They are powerful sorcerers with small dragon familiars perched on their shoulders.
Characteristics[edit]
Hirsute hexers are humanoids with tan hides and draconic features that carry around a red-scaled dragon as a pet on their left shoulders. They wear purple robes with a dragon's head symbol emblazoned on the front, orange shoes, orange pauldrons wide enough for their dragons to perch on, and horned orange helmets decorated with purple gemstones.
The sorcerers are a force to be reckoned with as they possess powerful spells such as Kaswoosh and Kathwack and can resurrect their fallen companions with Kazing, as well. They bolster their magical arsenal with the ability to land desperate attacks and can cancel out beneficial effects with a disruptive wave of energy. The hexers are also noteworthy for being the only source of the rare Duplic hats in VII, which can be a major boon to any spellcaster.
