Romaria is a kingdom of Dragon Quest III. It is a roman-esque kingdom visited early in the game, being the first settlement players see after exiting the Shrine of Promise. It is the first "mainland" location visited in the game, as well as the series' introduction to Monster Arenas where the player can gamble on enemy monster battles. The Romarans are familiar with Aliahan with a child identifying the Hero nationality from to their clothes.
Romaria is a peaceful kingdom, though the people whisper about the rumors of an Archfiend threatening to conquer the world and even the guards blanche at the recent rise in the monster population. The people put their faith in il Re, their King, to protect them but the man's father bemoans his son's habit of slacking off and retreating to the monster arena to gamble instead of focusing on serving his subjects. The Queen is a more serious ruler, and tries to keep her husband's antics in check. She is curious about the kingdom of Aliahan, and asks the Hero if the people's hearts are as beautiful as her couriers describe the land.
Romaria is the focal point of the King's crown sidequest. Upon first arrival, the King of Romaria will request that the heroes retrieve his stolen crown from a group of bandits that have taken shelter in the far-off Skyfell Tower. These bandits are Robbin' 'Ood and his henchmen; thugs who collectively act as the first boss in the game. By defeating the bandits, the heroes can return the crown to the King or use it as a helmet for their own. If returned, the King will abdicate the throne in the Hero's favour.
The player is allowed to explore the town and speak with the citizens as King (or Queen), garnering unique dialogue not seen elsewhere in the game--an old woman requests that the Hero order the guards to weed the garden meant to honor the memory of the late Queen, and the woman in the church beseeches the salvation of the people in Norvik, for example. The Hero is prevented by guards from leaving the kingdom's walls out of concerns for safety, so in order to continue the quest the Hero must speak with the former king in the Monster Arena and remind him of his duty as a king.
To the west of the kingdom is the Romarian Outpost, a two-building checkpoint built to provide faster travel into the kingdom of Portoga for those who do not own their own ships. Unfortunately, the Magic key is required to open the door.

- The names Romaly and Romaria derive from the city of Rome in real world Italy. Romaria is located in the same corresponding location on the world map in Dragon Quest III.
- If playing as the female Hero, and thus becoming queen, the innkeeper will let the player rest at the inn for free and a scene will play out of the innkeeper scrambling to dress up the room and make it fit for royalty. This can only be seen once, as the innkeeper will state that in all his twenty years of business he has never felt prouder when spoken to again.
