The Somnol ant is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest II.
It is a formicidae that specializes in putting adventurers to sleep with its magic.
Characteristics[edit]
Somnol ants are similar to other ants found in II, but sport a reddish or purple tint. They are capable of very simple magic that can put someone to Sleep. Although the Somnol ant and the rest of its relatives have not reappeared in the main series, they have made regular appearances in spinoff games.
