In some of the games, the spear or pole has some cloth wrapped around it as a rudimentary grip for ease of use. Typically it is one of the weakest, if not the weakest, weapon that appears in the game. Eventually, this position would be taken by the [[Cypress stick]] in later games.
This lance is often the weakest weapon of its type and can be purchased from the weapon shops in many early-game villages. It is long enough to be wielded in both hands and has a simple cloth grip at the base. These lances are the favoured weapons of [[Bambooligan]]s.
