Scuttle slimes, also known as coal slimes, are a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3. It is a red slime wearing a protective shell on its back made of coal.

Characteristics[edit]

Scuttle slimes are a subspecies of the shell slime that dwells in sweltering hot volcanic regions. Their bodies have turned bright red from exposure to high temperatures and they have yellow eyes with red irises. The black shells on their backs are made from accumulation of coal from their nearby environment. The slimes specialize in using fire attacks and explosive magic on their opponents.

Scuttle slime appears as a C-rank monster of the slime family. It can be used to form a darkonium slime if synthesized with a slimecicle.
