The Croaked king is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series that was introduced in Dragon Quest VII.

Characteristics

Croaked kings are colossal frog monsters that believe themselves to be emperors of the sea. They have reddish-pink skin with a pudgy white underbelly. They walk about on an unusual suction cup-like limb and they have a long pair of whiskers, making them appear somewhat like catfish, as well. The kings wear a majestic sea blue cape that is held on their bodies with a gold brooch and wield a sceptre made of a golden conch, which allows them to summon great raging waves of water with Maelstrom. They have an innate ability to passively recover health, which may be to do with their regal nature, or perhaps it's due to the extra flubber on their bodies. They also use their stunning sceptre to help them harness the powers of icy blizzards and strong fire, with Kasizzle. When the croaked kings resurfaced many years later in Stars, their skin color changed to a mossy green closer to that of a real-world amphibian.
