The Cross eye is a monster that first appeared in Dragon Quest V as both an enemy and recruitable monster, before later appearing in many installments of the Dragon Quest Monsters series. In Dragon Quest V, it is weaker than the Lazy eye and Luneyetic (the latter being the strongest of the three) and encountered first.

The Big Eye is a two-star member of the Beast family. It naturally learns Icebolt, Cold Breath and Magic Barrier. Its in-game description reads "Its single eye is the source of its magic."
