Payback Mode

Payback Mode is a special feature in Dragon Quest Swords which allows the player to begin a new game with the ultra-powerful Deathbringer Sword. This feature is only unlocked after playing the game in the normal mode and defeating the most powerful boss, Edahs' Sophix. This feature marks one of the only times a 'New Game+' feature has been available in a Dragon Quest game.
