The flametang boomerang is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest franchise. It is a metal boomerang empowered with fire, but until the ninth game onwards it did not factor in enemy resistances to flames for damage calculation.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation remakes[edit]
The flametang boomerang has an attack bonus of +42 and can be equipped by the Hero, mages, merchants, gadabouts, and thieves. They can be purchased for 6,500 gold at the Dragon Queen's Treasures n' Trapdoors track and one can be found in the Tower of Rubiss. In the mobile versions, it is the prize for turning in 55 mini medals to the collector in Aliahan as all TnT boards were removed.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
The flametang boomerang has an attack bonus of +65. It can be purchased in Precaria for 13,000 gold and sold for 9,750 gold. The Hero, his son, the Beastmaster, Chimaera, Cross eye, Dracky, Fandangow, Fat rat, Flamethrower, Funghoul, Ghost, Grudgerigar, Hellion, Man o' war, Minidemon, Pocus poppet, Powie yowie, Snowbird, and Ticking timeburrm can equip it.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
Flametang boomerangs can be bought in the hidden well shop for 13,000 gold. To find the shop, the player will need lorelei's harp and the ship to reach it. It is south of Alltrades Abbey. Flametang boomerangs can be sold for 9,750 gold, or 10,125 gold after it has been upgraded. They have an attack bonus of +65 and a style bonus of +25 (+52 once it has been upgraded). The Hero, Amos, Terry, and all slime allies except for Goowain can equip it.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
The flametang boomerang has an attack bonus of +65 and a style bonus of +25. They can be bought for 13,000 gold and sold for 6,500 gold. The Hero and Ruff can equip it.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The flametang boomerang has an attack bonus of +63. It can't be bought, but it can be sold for 7,250 gold. It is found on a hill west of Argonia, but the hill can only be reached from the air. The Hero is the only party member that can equip it in the PS2 version. In the 3DS release, Morrie can also equip it
Additionally, the boomerang can be made through alchemy by combining a swallowtail and a flame shield.
