The Spellward circlet is a piece of headgear exclusive to Dragon Quest IX. It is a tiara that protects the wearer from several several types of status ailments.
Localization history[edit]
Ōgon no tiara has consistently been translated as golden tiara in every game aside from the ninth title. The reason for this is due to the presence of the きんのかみかざり (kin no kamikazari) helmet, which also directly translates into golden tiara. As the kin no kamikazari item is just a plain upgrade of the silver tiara with no special aspects, the localization team opted to use the golden tiara term for it while giving the ōgon no tiara helmet the spellward circlet name to highlight its utility as a ward against status ailments.
