There are two scripted encounters with Monarchaeopteryxes when the party is stranded in Emberdale after the islands have been sealed away again. One battle is with a Monarchaeopteryx, a Mandrake major, and a Very devil and another with two Monarchaeopteryxes and a Mandrake major. They do not pose any major threat and can be taken out easily with group-targeting attacks such as Thin Air.

Etymology[edit]

The monarchaeopteryx name is a combination of monarchy, suggesting their strength over the anarchaeopteryx and oligarchaeopteryx; and archaeopteryx, a bird-like dinosaur from the Jurassic period which helped provide the link between birds and reptiles.
