The Cavorting column is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. It is a purple stone column that has become animated by magic.

Characteristics[edit]

Powerful purple pillars that perpetually dance and weave their way through battle, burning other battlers with their fire flinging limbs and bolstering defenses by casting Kabuff magic. Their wicked weird dance even supposedly saps a target of their magic power, leaving them less capable of casting massive spells. The bodies of the columns are quite flexible, allowing them to contort themselves in a snakelike fashion to hammer their enemies.
