The Chain whip is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest franchise. Like most whips, it is designed to attack a group of enemies.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III
The chain whip has an attack bonus of +27. It can be bought in Kazave and Ashalam for 1,000 gold. It can only be equipped by Thieves, Dealers, Jesters, and Sages.
Dragon Quest V
The chain whip has an attack bonus of +23. It can be bought early on in Roundbeck, Coburg, and Fortuna for 1,200.
Dragon Quest VI
Chain whips can be bought in Wellshire, Somnia, and Amor for 1,200 gold and sold for 900 gold. They have an attack bonus of +28 and a Style bonus of +18. Ashlynn, Nevan, and Lizzie can equip them.
Dragon Quest VII
Chain whips can be bought for 2,500 gold and sold for 1,250 gold. They have an attack bonus of +33. Maribel, Melvin, and Aira can equip them.
Dragon Quest VIII
The chain whip has an attack bonus of +32. It can only be equipped by Jessica.
Dragon Quest IX
Chain whips can be bought in Bloomingdale and Gleeba for 3,700 gold. They can be sold for 1,850 gold. Chain whips have an attack bonus of +28 and a 1 star rarity. Mages, Minstrels, and Luminaries can equip them.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Chain whips can be sold for 1,400 gold and have an attack bonus of +26. They are dropped by Captain Crow. Its in game description is "A metal whip able to strike all foes at once."
