The Vigilantern is a monster that appears exclusively in Dragon Quest VII. It is a magic lantern that can summon a genie in battle.
Characteristics
Vigilanterns are silver lamps with malicious grins on their faces that hover above the battlefield. They have a shiny sheen and are decorated with red jewels all over, possessing a thorny handle on their sides that they use to slice into enemies. Like their fellow lanterns, they are able to call for help in the form of Djinn genies to assist them in battle. The lanterns can then empower them even further by casting Oomph. Although the vigilanterns have an identical appearance to malevolamps, they are clearly much powerful monsters and possess different abilities than them.

Trivia
In the original Sony PlayStation version of the game, BudooLamps did not possess any MP to speak of and would waste their turn trying to cast TwinHits, although this was rectified in the remake by giving them some MP.
