The following is a list of minor characters in Dragon Quest IX, categorized by the place they appear.

Eteene
Lady Abba
The eldest woman of Eteene, and also the grandmother of Singh and the granddaughter of Lady Elba. She really cares about the Hero/Heroine and his/her sibling.
Singh
Grandson of lady Abba. He lives in the church with her grandmother and joins the party in the offline campaign.
Kame-sama
A turtle worshipped in Eteene because of its magical powers. It has some kind of connection with the Heavenly Shrine.
Tatara
Woman who advised the hero about the mischief his brother did with the stockpile of Perky Beans. She also teaches the player about how to control your characters and some other basic information.
Nei
Woman who lives inside the waterwheel house and gives the player the Common Fabric Bag one of the key items needed to fulfil Singh's special quest
Noura
Woman who lives at the northest house of Eteene and gives the player the Bunch of herbs one of the key items needed to fulfil Singh's special quest
