"Why don'tcha let us show the old gratitude some other way? Don't ask for money though, cos we ain't got none."
—The Underdigger
The Underdigger is a combatant in Octagonia's Masked Martial Arts Tournament in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. This burly brute is a toughie who wears a black mask with extra-large horns. Despite his impressive physique, he's better at complaining than he is at brawling.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
The Underdigger's bleedin', stinkin' luck leaves him partnered with the Abominable Showman and up against the previous year's winner Vince Vanquish (and his partner the Hero) in the first round of the tournament. Despite unleashing the fearsome Bums Away pep power, the big guys are easily beaten by the champ and his backup.
In Jade's intermission chapter, the Underdigger is among the martial artists trapped in Limboo by Booga and subjected to an agonizing gauntlet by his lovebird Boodica. The Underdigger, already a pessimist, has given in to despair like all of his fellows, but Jade manages to inspire the forlorn fighters to take up arms together and escape the pocket dimension. After Jade is captured and brainwashed by Booga, both the Underdigger and his former partner the Showman are temporarily transformed into Moosifers.
In Act 3, the Underdigger and many of the other MMA fighters fall under the thrall of the Malicious Arachtagon and must be fought by the party. Once freed from the spider's control, the Underdigger and the Abominable Showman can be recruited to serve as gate guards for Cobblestone.
