The Mastermine is a monster introduced in Dragon Quest VII.
Characteristics[edit]
Menacing floating mines that are more mindful than they first look, managing to swing themselves fiercely at foes, spikes first, but also use Bounce to block spells and send them right back at attackers. They are also prone to self-destructing at will to harm adventurers with a violent explosion. In the 3DS version, the mastermine and its cousins do not move around much on the field and can be avoided easily as long as they directly blocking the party's path. If they are faced by a much stronger enemy, they can rapidly flee by rolling away on the ground.
