The sizeable scissors are a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series. In some entries, this unusual weapon consists of a giant pair of scissors which attaches to the wielder's arm via a device that allows them to open and close the blades in order to chop up foes. When the shears made a reappearance in the series, they gained a handle, allowing the wielder to swing around the scissors like a sword.

Dragon Quest III[edit]

The sizeable scissors have an attack bonus of +48 and they can only be equipped by Warriors. They can be purchased for 3,700 gold and sold for 2,775 in the weapon/armour shops in Asham and Isis in the NES versions of the game. In the remakes, the scissors have an attack bonus of +47, cost 4,700 gold to purchase from Baharata and Mur and can be sold for 3,525 gold.

Dragon Quest VII[edit]

The sizeable scissors have an attack bonus of +47, but reduce style by 1. They can only be equipped by Kiefer and Aishe and can be purchased from Spilton-on-Sea and Wetlock in the past, as well as Wetlock in the present for 6,000 gold.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit]

The sizeable scissors has an attack bonus of +36 and a blocking bonus of +6. In this entry, the shears are classified as a greatsword that can only be wielded by Psaro. It can be purchased for 2,550 gold after Psaro joins the party and can be sold for 1,270 gold.
