The skull helm is a recurring piece of headwear in the Dragon Quest series. Although this monstrous skullcap imparts a deadly curse on its wearer, it can be purified with the use of Alchemy.

Although it is not ideal to equip the skull helm doing normal gameplay, it can be useful for item farming: if Yangus has the skill Steal Sickle (or the upgraded version) and equips the skull helm, the player can use the skill on a desired enemy repeatedly until they obtain they item they want without the risk of killing the target.
