The smart suit is a recurring set of clothing in the Dragon Quest series. It is a fashionable set of formal clothing reserved exclusively for male characters and provides a high amount of defense and style for the wearer.
Characteristics[edit]
The suit's design has changed a little over the years but it has consistently included a modern single-breasted jacket worn with a collared dress shirt and necktie. In III and VII, the smart suit was dark purple and also included a pair of trousers. In IX and XI, the jacket is black now and trousers were no longer part of the suit, but a red rose is worn as a boutonniere in the jacket's left pocket. The suit in III included a pink vest worn underneath the jacket and has a handkerchief worn in the jacket's pocket.
In most cases, the smart suit has been more protective than some suits of armor and provides a high bonus to the wearer's Style or Charm. It is one of the few non-joke pieces of equipment reserved for men.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]
The smart suit has a defence bonus of +42. It can only be equipped by male Thieves and Gadabouts, making it a male counterpart to the party dress. It can be found in Edina.
