The Salamarauder is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. It is a stronger, pale variant of the Wooper trooper that has taken up piracy.

Characteristics

Like wooper troopers, salamarauders are small amphibian warriors based off the axolotl, their paler complexion making them more reminiscent of the real-life animal. They wear simple blue tabards and horned helmets on their heads. The salamarauders can dodge attacks and redirect them in much the same way as their blue brethren, and can also breathe out cool breath and block attacks with their shield.

Salamarauder appeared in the 10th card pack, "Frontier of Creation and Destruction" as a rare card exclusive for Thief leaders.

Dragon Quest Tact

Salamarauder appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family during the second part of the limited "Scintillating Summer Hols! Swimwear, Waves, and Watermelons!" event. It will join the party in Chapter 2, Episode 1 of the event quests and it can be fully awakened by completing the quest at any difficulty.
