The Brigand is a boss in Dragon Quest VII. He fights alongside his fellow bandits in the Alltrades Abbey region where Pilgrim's Perdition once stood.

Characteristics

Outside of battle, the brigand looks like an ordinary castle guardsman, wearing a long orange surcoat over black clothing, a red morion helmet, red gloves, and a red pair of boots. In battle, he looks identical to a Harmour, wearing a heavy suit of armor that is split perfectly down the middle, with red on the left and black on the right. His helmet has a tall pair of golden horns. In his right hand, he carries a shield embossed with the image of a horned skull on it and a massive poleaxe in his left hand, which he uses to perform various attacks with, including Flame Slash and Klepto Clobber. The brigand is able to perform acrobatic flips despite his heavy armor.

Strategy

The beefy armoured Brigand uses powerful physical attacks which, depending on the vocations that the player chose at Alltrades Abbey, can be a minor annoyance or a big concern. Casting Buff helps considerably and like the other three bosses, he is vulnerable to Sleep. He is also the most susceptible to being intimidated by War Cry or Ruff's Aooo! skill. The brigand is the least threatening of the four and should be defeated last. If the player has taken the time to learn abilities and spells that target all enemies such as Lightning and Boom, they will make the battle much easier.
