The Crested viper (formerly known as Crestpent) is a semi-recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.

Description

The Crested viper looks like an average snake. However, there are four large red protrusions originating from its head, which look like crests, giving the Crested viper its name.

The pit viper (formerly known as evilviper) was introduced in Dragon Quest IV, and is a blue variant of the crested viper. In the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VII, the monster is called Diethon, sharing its name with another cyan snake.
