The Butterfly wing is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a beautiful delicate wing taken from a lepidopteran that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Butterfly wings can be dropped by Batterflies, Betterflies, and Dread admirals. One Butterfly wing is required to complete Quest #146: Hail to the Queen. Butterfly wings are used in the following alchemy recipes:

Dragon Quest X

Butterfly wings are used as a material in the use of alchemy and equipment crafting. They can be purchased from a material store for 200 gold coin or dropped by various monsters, including Killerpillars, Damselflies, and Splutterflies.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Butterfly wings can be purchased from the southern roving emporium in the Gallopolis Region for 180 gold coins or received from sparkly spots in the Heliodorian Foothills, the Emerald Coast, the Costa Valor, the Zwaardsrust Region, the Dundrasil Region, and the Arborian Highlands. One wing can be found in Heliodor Castle. It can be sold for 45 gold coins. The wings have a 18 chance of being dropped by Horknights and Vicious horknights. Butterfly wings are used in the following recipes for the Fun-Size Forge:

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

Butterfly wings can be dropped by Chimaeras and Magi or received from King Flaminio in exchange for 1 mini medal onboard the Stonecloud. It can be used in the quick recipes for the Bunny tail and Gold bracers in the Alchemy Pot or sold for 3 gold coins. Two butterfly wings are required to complete Quest #059: Sibling Revelry.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End

Butterfly wings can be used as a material to improve various accessories. They can be dropped by Magi and Minidemons or sold for 3 gold coins.
