Gyldenaut is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI. It is a gold-plated variant of the Deadnaut.
Characteristics[edit]
Gyldenauts are skeletal warriors whose bones and armaments are completely composed of gold. Despite their appearance, they actually belong to the Material family instead of being undead. They are distinguished by the Viking skull symbol emblazoned on their breastplate and on their shields, replacing the bat insignia of the Children of Hargon seen on other bone swordsmen. The symbol features a horned viking helmet and a pair of crossed swords. In battle, they are capable of paralysing their opponents with rapid sword strikes. These foot soldiers are completely loyal to the Spectral Sentinel Gyldygga and follow the orders of their captains, the Gyldenbritches.
