The Small fry is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. One of the smallest members of the Dragon family, it is typically the first one encountered in the titles in which it appears, and assuredly is the least dangerous.
Characteristics
The Small fry, as implied by its name, is a baby dragon. It usually knows breathing attacks, but none powerful enough to actually be a threat to the party unless players are severely under-leveled. Due to its coloration, head shape, and horn style, some fans believe them to be the nymph stage or per-adolescent form of Great Dragons.

NOTE: The Small fry is actually the third variant in its line, with the Frizzard being the original monster to sport the design. However, the Small fry has been featured much more prominently in spin-offs, media, merchandise, and so on, to the point that it has been given priority over its predecessors.
The little wyvern, a green variant, debuted in Dragon Quest X and has not yet been localized.
