Usually available only for the Hero (or hero class), Zap is a thunder spell that strikes one monster. Starting with Dragon Quest V, it targets all enemies.

Zap is learned by The Hero at level 26. Ortega also uses the spell in his fight with King Hydra.
Dragon Quest IV
Zap is learned by The Hero at level 25, though his tutor in Hidden Valley planned to teach him the spell sooner, before the village was destroyed by Psaro the Manslayer.
