Seeds of skill are edibles that that increases the skill point total of whoever eats them. They only appears in later Dragon Quest installments that use a point-allocation skill system.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The seeds give a character 5 skill points, and can be found in an overworld chest near Pickham, in pots/cabinets in Neos and Empycchu, and may be purchased once from a midnight shop in Arcadia.
- The nocturnal merchant sell six seeds in the 3DS version
A small selection of normal monsters drop them as rare items; Solaris, Great trolls, and Crocodogs specifically, with a 1/64 chance for each. Furthermore, all forms of the Lord of Dragovians have a 1/8 chance (a guaranteed chance in the 3DS version) to drop the seed.
- The Lord of Dragovians' various forms will always drop a seed of skill when first defeated in the 3DS version
Regardless of which monster the player goes after, it is strongly recommended to make use of Yangus' Stainless Steal Sickle; the acquisition chance will be cut in half, but being able to attempt stealing multiple times in one battle is well worth the trade-off.

Seeds of skill grant 1 point to a character, and are found in Laguna di Gondolia, Gallopolis, L'Académie de Notre Maitre des Médailles, Nautica, and Cobblestone. The seeds are also dropped by canniboxes, mimics, pandora's boxes with a 100% drop rate in scripted battles, and by great keepers at a 1/256 rate.
