The Nemean is a low level Grotto boss.

Characteristics

His appearance resembles a large flying lion-type monster, with an scale-armored back and both dragon tail and wings. He also has red demonic eyes.

In Dragon Quest IX it is revealed, thanks to Fowleye, that the Nemean is one of the ten monsters that were created by Zenus remains (due to Corvus' attack) and also that the draconic lion used to be His "harebrained" head and in the Monster List is also revealed that "he could speak the mortal tongue, but had long forgotten".

Etymology

His name is a reference to the Nemean Lion, a creature with impervious golden fur that was slain as the first of the 12 labors of Hercules.
