The giant mallet is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest franchise. Regarding monsters, it is the preferred weapon of hammerhoods and brownies and the two species are always shown carrying them into battle.

The giant mallet increases the Builder's attack by +4. The first giant mallet in the game is given to the builder by the Hairy Hermit, though more can be crafted using three units of wood at an anvil.
