The Knight Abhorrent is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in the original Dragon Quest. Crusaders covered in crimson, they are one of the most frightening members of the Dragonlord's army, bringing brawn and brains to serve its master.
Characteristics
Like their blue-armored brothers, the Knight Abhorrent is a hulking humanoid knight clad from head to toe in heavy armor colored in shades of red, pink, and orange, wielding a sharp battle axe in one hand and a round shield in their offhand. The knights have large gems on their faulds and on the center of their shields. Their helmets have tall yellow plumes and completely obscure the wearer's face underneath. Their description in Heroes II states that the suits of armor have no wearer underneath and have been animated by evil magic. After a long absence from the main series, the knights made their reappearance in X and XI.
