Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
This armor may be won in either the Port Haven or Turnscote casinos, and can be found in Howcastle behind a door that requires the Magic key. It provides +66 defense, +51 style, and negates 15 points of magical damage from all non-Zap spells. It can be worn by the Hero, Terry, Carver, Lizzie, Amos, and Goowain.
- The Dragon shield is also available in the aforementioned casinos, and can be equipped along with the platinum mail by most characters. This makes the battle with Murdaw significantly easier and is a popular strategy for low-level playthroughs.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
The platinum mail has a defence bonus of +72 and magical protection has returned to 15 points. Only the Hero and Angelo can wear it. It can be made in the Alchemy Pot or dropped by Hell's gatekeepers in the PS2 version. It can be sold for 4,900 gold.
