The papillon mask is a piece of headwear introduced in Dragon Quest IX. It is a beautiful purple mask designed in the shape of a butterfly the prevents the wearer from becoming paralysed, continuing the theme found in its predecessor the Malleable mask.

Etymology[edit]
- Papillon is the French word for butterfly.
