The Satyr is a monster introduced in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. They are creatures with the upper bodies of men and the lower bodies of goats.

Characteristics[edit]

Although they are called satyrs, these creatures have more in common with fauns of Greek mythology. They have the lower bodies of goats and their upper bodies have the appearance of chubby men, with goat horns on the sides of their heads. As satyrs grow older, their horns fall out and they use them as musical instruments, utilizing them to put unsuspecting adventurers to sleep with music. Satyrs are not particularly powerful monsters, but they can be formidable foes to novice adventurers. In the Joker series of games, they are considered part of the Beast family due to their lower halves.
