The Thinking Cap is headgear equipment in the Dragon Quest series, designed to augment its wearer's intelligence. Despite its name, it looks more like a tiara.

Appearances

Dragon Quest V

The thinking cap has a defence bonus of +40, and increases wisdom by 15 points. It is sold in Lofty Peak and Faerie Lea for 13000, and can be equipped by the Hero, Parry, and Tuppence.

Dragon Quest VI

The cap features the traditional +40 defence and +15 wisdom, but now boasts +21 style. It is sold in Despairia, and the well armour shop east of Port Haven. The Hero, Carver, Nevan, Terry, Amos, Lizzie, and Goowain can equip it.

Dragon Quest VII

Dragon Quest VIII

The thinking cap has a defence bonus of +38, and increases wisdom by 15 points. It can be purchased for 13000 in Tryan Gully and created with alchemy by combining a Scholar's cap with an Iron headgear. It can only be worn by Jessica and Angelo.

Dragon Quest IX

The thinking cap increases defence by +18, boosts magical might and mending by +12 points, is sold for 12500 in Swinedimples Academy and Wormwood Creek, and can be equipped by Priests, Magi, Paladins, Sages, Armamentalists, Minstrels, and Luminaries.

Through alchemy, the cap can become the Scholar's Circlet, increasing defence to +20, and magical stats by +16. It is formed by mixing Sage's Elixir and a Brainy Bracer with the cap, and can be donned by the same vocations as before.
