Salamander fry is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IV.

It is a red, fire-elemental variant of the Killer gila.

Characteristics[edit]

Salamander fry are large amphibians with bumpy red skin, orange undersides, and a long tail that crawl on all fours. They have four pairs of frills on the side of their heads, long purple tongues that loll lazily out of their mouths, and a tall fin with green webbing running down their back. Like their mythological namesake, Salamander fry are capable of using fire against their enemies. They are said to be the adolescent form of an Infernal serpent, according to the latter's bestiary description in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.
