The Grinade is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.
Introduced in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, it is a weaker, yellowish variant of the Rockbomb.
Characteristics
In terms of appearance, the Grinade is identical to the Rockbomb, but a yellowish shade.
Grinades are generally the weakest of their rocky relations. These smiling yellow bold boulders must rely on physical attacks, since they have yet to develop the spark that allows them to explode or self-sacrifice like their brethren. They allow adventurers to let their guards down and then save up their Strength to launch themselves at their foes, full force by using their Focus Strength skill. Sometimes they just simple spend a turn just staring, and others they find something funny enough to blindly fling themselves at the enemy, cackling madly.

Etymology
Grinade is taken from grin, a type of smile, and grenade, an explosive used in warfare. This naming is presently a misnomer, as none of the Grinade's current appearances show it able to sacrifice itself in any way, unlike its relatives, save for its appearance in XI where it can use Self Destruct during the sidequest involving the Rainbow Mines.
