The Lump shaman is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III. It is a pessimistic pustule despite being the highest ranking member of the Lump family, often complaining to other monsters about any number of things until being told to shut it.
Characteristics
The lump shamans are high-ranking masses of pink or red clay with solid yellow eyes that embody excellence in the dark arts. They have mastered high-level magic of several disciplines which they cast with their carved wooden staffs. If they have not already torched their foes, the glint in their eyes will hypnotize before making piles of ash from them. In the main series, they are classified as humanoids, but in spinoffs such as the Monsters games, it belongs to the Demon family due to their devilish facial features.

Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken
The character Brass is a friendly lump shaman who is Dai's adoptive grandfather who helps train him and tries to teach him magic. He was once a high-ranking servant of the Dark Lord Hadlar, but after Avan defeated him, Brass and other monsters started living peacefully on Dermline Island. Brass was portrayed as having red skin like his counterpart from the games, but in the 2020 anime, his skin color was changed to light grey instead.
