The Spangled dress is a recurring piece of clothing in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in Dragon Quest VII. It is a fashionable dress designed for women that provides a high amount of protection.
The dress is a sleeveless ankle-length evening gown made out of a shimmery dark indigo material that gives it its name. It has high leg slits on both sides and is decorated with a fur collar at the top. Although it possesses no special features, it often has a high defence and style bonus for wearers.
Appearing exclusively in smartphone versions of the game, the spangled dress has a Defence bonus of +40, a Style bonus of +60, and could only be equipped by Milly and Ashlynn. It was a limited-time item that could be obtained by redeeming a special gift code from the Dragon Quest Portal app that was exclusive for Japanese players and was only available from September 1st, 2015 to September 30th, 2015.
The Spangled dress has a Defence bonus of +50 and a Style bonus of +52. It can only be worn by Maribel and Aishe. In the original Sony PlayStation version, spangled dresses can be purchased at the Grand Slum version of the Immigrant Town for 11,500 gold and sold for 5,750 gold. A spangled dress can be received as a prize for winning the Best Dressed Award of the Excellence Grading Organisation in El Ciclo in the present. They can also be won as prizes from the Lucky Panel at the Casino starting from Pilgrim's Rest in the present. If the dress is equipped with the Solar fan, it provides an extra +45 bonus to Style when being ranked for the Style category.

The Spangled dress has a Defence bonus of +46 and can only be worn by Jessica and Red. Spangled dresses can be purchased for 3,000 tokens at Baccarat's Casino and sold for 2,350 gold. One can also be found in Cash and Carrie's house in Baccarat after the events at Marta's Cottage. The dress can also be dropped by Swingin' hipsters and Unholy bishops. Although it possesses no special properties, it can be mixed to create a Shimmering dress in the Alchemy Pot, along with a Nitid tutu in the Nintendo 3DS version.

The Spangled dress was added in Version 6.3 of the game and was made a unisex piece of equipment. It has a Defence bonus of +108, a Style bonus of +77, a Magical Might and Magical Mending bonus of +109, and increases the wearer's Weight by 19. The dress can be equipped by Minstrels, Rangers, Luminaries, Dancers, and Gadabouts.
Like many pieces of equipment in X, the spangled dress is divided into a torso piece and a leg piece. The entire set also includes a headpiece and shoes, as well.
