The One-man-army is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III. It is an Undead legion unto itself, able to strike multiple times per turn and keep its bones intact by healing. This monster is particularly dangerous when encountered in groups, and fittingly patrols the castles of demon lords.
Characteristics[edit]
One-man armies are skeletal warriors that have gained two extra pairs of arms to attack with, wielding silvery teal sabers in each of their hands. They are more armored than the typical skeleton, wearing small breastplates over their sternums, spiked caps on their skulls, boots, and gloves on all of their hands. The skeletons are purple-colored and their equipment is green in their original appearances, with their armour being a shade of mossy green in some versions of III. They can overwhelm their opponents by being able to attack twice per turn and land brutal strikes with their swords. The one-man armies tend to be highly resistant to attack magic and status ailments. Although they lost their ability to attack twice per turn when they reappeared after 30 years, the skeletal warriors gained the ability to cast higher healing magic in XI.
