The Great troll is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation.

These purple-skinned troll monarchs are among the strongest monsters in a Demon Lord's armies.

Characteristics

These purple, porcine powerhouses fail to bring anything new to the table, but they boast bolstered bulk compared to their predecessors and are all too happy to show it off in battle. A Great troll appears as the boss of Chapter 7. In the English version, he has been named Golok the Gatekeeper in keeping with the localization's theme of naming characters after types of swords. A golok is a type of blade used in Southeast Asia.
