The Octophant is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IV.
As its name states, it is a bizarre cross between an octopus and an elephant.

Etymology
The Octophant's original Japanese name, Dagon (ダゴン), is the name of the main god of the Phoenicians. For centuries, he was believed to be represented as half-man and half-fish, but the depictions were actually that of a Kulullû, an ancient Mesopotamian mythological creature with the head, arms, and torso of a man and the tail of a fish.
