The Boomerang is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest franchise. It hits all enemies in battle and is usually the weakest boomerang in the game.

Appearances

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation remakes

The boomerang has an attack bonus of +19. It can be equipped by the Hero, Gadabouts, Magi, Merchants, and Thieves. In the SNES and GBC versions it is found in the first T'n'T board near Romaria, and in android/ios version it is found in a Norvik treasure chest.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen

It's available for shops for 350 Gold Coins, and has the attack bonus of +18. In the Sony PlayStation and Nintendo DS version it's replaced by the Hunter's bow as the boomerang only targeted a single enemy originally.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride

The boomerang has an attack bonus of +15, and can be equipped by the Hero, all slime recruits, the Man o' war, Powie yowie, Hellion, Minidemon, Cross eye, Flamethrower, and Beastmaster.

It can be purchased in Roundbeck, Faerie Lea, and Fortuna for 400 gold and can be resold for 200.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

The boomerang increases attack by +15 and style by +5, and can be equipped by the Hero, Amos, Terry, and the slime buddies. It can be purchased in the Upper World's Somnia and Port Haven for 420 gold and resold for 315.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

The boomerang has an attack bonus of +15 and a style bonus of +5. It can only be equipped by the Hero and Ruff. It can be bought at Frobisher and Greenthumb Gardens in the past for 650 gold and sold for 325.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

The boomerang has an attack bonus of +19. It can be equipped by the Hero and Morrie. It can be purchased in Farebury and Alexandria for 420 gold. The boomerang can also be upgraded into the reinforced boomerang using the Alchemy Pot by combining it with an iron nail.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

As its simple name and typical appearance would suggest, the Boomerang is the weakest and most basic Boomerang-class weapon in the game. It grants an Attack boost of 13, and can be purchased for 750 coins and sold for 375 coins. As a very basic weapon, the Boomerang can be upgraded into a Reinforced Boomerang (which has double the Attack boost) through Alchemy, which can be further upgraded into the Crucerang. Like all Boomerang-class weapons, the Boomerang will strike all enemies in battle when attacked with, but the damage diminishes for each enemy to the right of the leftmost foe, resulting in the rightmost enemies in large groups taking very little damage.
