Elfin elixirs are some of the most potent items in the Dragon Quest series, replenishing every MP to whomever drinks a flask. They first appeared in Dragon Quest V, and have become a series mainstay with the dawn of the 3D era in Dragon Quest VIII.

10 elfin elixirs are required to pass the southwest portion of the Temple of Trials, requiring spending 400,000 gold if the player has no elixirs on hand. Previous to the May 23, 2025 patch, 25 elfin elixirs were required – necessitating an eye-watering 1,000,000 gold. It is strongly advised to make use of the cash prizes available in the higher ranks of the Monster Arena to meet this steep requirement.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Available in the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, elfin elixirs can sometime be won through a game of Tombola, as well as being found in a high level custom made Traveller's Tablet.

Elfin elixirs will completely restore the MP of the character being controlled by the player when picked up. They appear in later stages of the game, being dropped by some monsters or smashing pots and barrels. Like other healing items, elfin elixirs will not carry over between stages and should be used as needed.
